Fury just wants the biggest fights, not interested in unifying titles
Fury says he’s been there, done that, and is now only looking to deliver quality entertainment.
Following a pretty lively press conference leading into this weekend’s big heavyweight rematch between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury, Fury took some extra time to chat with Marcos Villegas of Fight Hub TV about Saturday’s main event. Check out some of his thoughts below...
Fury on this Wilder rematch:
“I think it’s the biggest fight of the last 20, 30 years, I feel fantastic, never felt better, cannot wait.”
On supposedly weighing heavier but looking lean and in good shape:
“I’m heavy, really heavy. Looking for a knockout so I packed on the pounds, strength, muscle mass. Can’t wait.”
On how he’s feeling physically now compared to the last time he fought Wilder:
“I feel fantastic, I’m eating six meals a day...drinking 2 1⁄2 gallons of water a day. Eating everything I should be, everything in sight.”
On if he ever wonders what might’ve been if he had always been this disciplined:
“I do, yeah. I do. But, you know, life’s not about living a life of regret now is it? It’s about enjoying the moment that you do have and I’ve learned from my mistakes and I won’t be doing it again.”
On how his newfound power has showed itself in sparring:
“It went really well. I had really good sparring partners and I sparred really well. Very, very good.”
On if it’s true he and Wilder already have a signed contract for a third fight:
“That’s correct, yes.”
On if he would go into that third fight straightaway:
“Yup. Why not? Keep fighting the biggest and best fights out there, delivering entertainment to the fans.”
On if he would seek out an undisputed title unification with Anthony Joshua if he beats Wilder:
“No, not really. I just wanna fight whoever’s the biggest at the time. Bring it back to Vegas and let’s get it on.
“I’ve already been unified heavyweight champion of the world. I don’t know if you remember, I’m sick of saying it, 2015 — it goes on and on and on...”
On how he plans to hurt Wilder:
“I hurt him by hitting him right on the point of the chin multiple times...(it’s not about timing), it’s just about hitting him hard and often.”
