Armenia conducts first bone marrow stem cell transplantation surgery
ArmInfo. In Armenia, the first bone marrow stem cell transplantation operation was performed.
The first two operations in Armenia for transplantation of bone
marrow stem cells were carried out in the Hematology Center named
after. R.O Yolyan. As ArmInfo was told in the Ministry of Health, the
head of the transplantation department of the Medical Center of
Hamburg University Eppendorf Nicolaus Kreger conducted the operation
with the assistance of the transplantology team of the hematology
center.
"I congratulate the Armenian colleagues on the implementation of the
latest method of treating malignant blood diseases. Difficulties
await us, but the first step has already been made," the German
scientist stated.
In his turn, Armenian professor Smbat Daghbashyan, assisting him,
stated that now Yerevan is already listed on the transplant map of
Europe. "Henceforth, we can receive patients from different countries
of the world," he noted.
