Serzh Sargsyan and Swedish parliamentarian discussed issues of deeper cooperation between states
ArmInfo. The President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan received the Delegation of the Kingdom of Sweden headed by the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the
Swedish Parliament Kenneth G. Forslund.
As the press-service of the President told ArmInfo, the President
noting the dynamic development of the relations between the states,
assured that Armenia is interested in deeper cooperation with Sweden.
He noticed that the will to reach a new level in relations is based
not only on economic and political interests but on common values as
well. According to him, Sweden is a state-example in the issues of
devotion to European values, held democracy, a high level of
protection of human rights, the rule of law that Armenia seeks for by
implementing system reforms.
In his turn, Forslund noted that the questions of policy of eastern
neighborhood and the program of EU Eastern Partnership are actively
discussed in the Parliament of Sweden. "All the programs which
initiates the EU in cooperation with the "Eastern Partnership"
states, have the support of our Parliament", he said. During the
meeting, the sides also discussed the current stage of negotiations
between EU and Armenia on the new legislative document, and also the
upcoming Parliament elections in Armenia.
