Parliamentary opposition of Armenia demands extraordinary meetings of Parliament on urgent domestic and foreign issues
ArmInfo. The parliamentary opposition of Armenia demands extraordinary meetings of the Parliament on urgent domestic and foreign issues.
Today, MP Tigran Urikhanyan expressed his indignation at the fact
that during the July events, when the Sasna Tsrer (Daredevils of
Sassoon) group seized a police compound in Yerevan, the National
Assembly did not suspend its holidays and failed to respond to the
current critical situation. This is unacceptable for the supreme
legislative and political body. He stressed the need to convene an
extraordinary session on this matter.
Head of the Heritage Faction Zaruhi Postanjyan also pointed out the
need to hold several extraordinary meetings of the Parliament
regarding the seizure of the police compound and the results of the
April war, during which the Armenian side lost 800 hectares. "All
those responsible for the loss of Armenian territories must be
punished," Postanjyan said.
Lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan, in turn, demanded that the Parliament
should receive explanations from the authorized bodies regarding the
negligent attitude towards the legal rights of the MPs, who are
prevented from visiting arrestees and prisoners, particularly, the
members of Sasna Tsrer. Armenian Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan
promised to sort out the situation.
