Serzh Sargsyan: Ilham Aliyev shows volatile behavior
President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has been showing volatile behavior recently, while nothing of the kind was observed at the meeting in Vienna. President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan made such remarks at a joint news conference with his Czech counterpart Milos Zeman in Yerevan on June 8.
The president brought the latest statement by Aliyev, wherein he made personal insults against the leadership of Armenia and distorted historical facts reducing them to absurdity.
The president hopes it is a temporary phenomenon and does not pursue torpedoing of the Vienna arrangements that look to stabilize the situation in the region. He thanks the Czech Republic of its balanced stance on the Karabakh conflict and the support to the peaceful efforts of the Minsk Group mediators.
Czech President Milos Zeman, in turn, suggested holding Sargsyan-Aliyev meetings in Prague like in 2002 and 2004. He expressed hope that the two leaders will arrive at a consensus and a peaceful resolution to the conflict. He recalled that he traveled to Azerbaijan before arriving in Armenia and reminded President Aliyev about the erstwhile enmity between France and Germany. The Czech president said he hopes the Armenian and Azerbaijani leaders will also manage to overcome the current enmity.
