U.S. Department of Justice representative arrives in Yerevan at invitation of U.S. Embassy to help Armenian Government fight corruption
Minister of Justice of Armenia Arpine Hovhannisyan, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard Mills and Senior Anti-Corruption Counsel at U.S. Department of Justice, Peter Ainsworth discussed anti-corruption measures in Yerevan.
The Justice Ministry of Armenia told ArmInfo Minister Hovhannisyan informed the guests of the measures the ministry has taken to combat corruption saying much is still to be to that end. The minister stressed the need of cooperation with international partners in the field.
Ambassador Mills, in turn, said U.S. Government is ready to work with Armenia in fighting corruption. The ambassador introduced Peter Ainsworth, the Senior Anti-Corruption Counsel at U.S. Department of Justice, saying he is in Yerevan at the invitation of the U.S. Embassy to meet with the Justice Minister of Armenia and help the Armenian Government fight corruption.
The sides discussed the efficiency of implementing anti-corruption policy and the importance of the civil society and media in it. The U.S. Department of Justice representative expressed his readiness to closely cooperate and share his experience with the Justice Ministry of Armenia to boost anti-corruption measures in the country.
