Azerbaijan is playing cat and mouse game with Armenia and the world - analyst
ArmInfo. While we are arguing on the streets and in government corridors about the conditions under which the Armenian state should be restored within the borders of the former USSR,
Azerbaijan has decided to take a detour and question the very
legitimacy of the Republic of Armenia. Famous Armenian political
analyst Manvel Sargsyan expressed such an opinion on his Facebook
page.
The leadership of Armenia, by involving Azerbaijan in the process of
border demarcation through preliminary territorial concessions, hopes
that it will establish a strong "legitimate" fence against anyone
entering its territory. But, as it turns out, once again the
ingenuity of the opponent is underestimated. There is no
understanding that the border issue for Azerbaijan is simply a method
to force Armenia to make further concessions on more serious issues.
Our "dreamers of peace", of course, are far from understanding such
things.
The analyst briefly tried to explain the situation. In his opinion,
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, during the reception of a
delegation led by the OSCE Chair-in-Office on May 14, stated that the
Armenian- Azerbaijani conflict was already a thing of history and it
no longer exists, and said that the time had come to abolish the OSCE
Minsk Group and all related institutions.
The Azerbaijani side has raised this issue, and there is no reason
why the Armenian side would not agree to this. At the same time,
Aliyev emphasized that Azerbaijan, thanks to its will and strength,
put an end to the 'occupation', ensuring territorial integrity and
sovereignty in accordance with the norms and principles of
international law and the UN Charter.
As Sargsyan noted, not only the OSCE, but also Armenian "advanced"
eggheaded persons, of course, will internally agree with Aliyev.
Like, let him close everything from the past and let's go to a
"peaceful future". Those in the leadership of Armenia thought exactly
the same way, who in 1991 recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan
with the hope that after that there would be no need to fight. But
then they received punishment for their naivety - a brutal war. And
only after that they realized that ceding rights to the enemy is not
so harmless, you can get a terrible blow in return.
And why does Aliyev want to shut down the activities of the OSCE
Minsk Group? Is it just to sum up the story?, the analyst asks. " By
the way, for the first time he addressed this proposal to the OSCE
Secretary in Munich. Why such persistence? Have the Armenian
authorities thought about this? Apparently, not entirely, since
during a conversation with the same OSCE chairman in Yerevan they
only talked about how diligent they are and how carefully they carry
out the demarcation and build peace and democracy. They didn't
understand that completely different intrigues were being woven
against them - on the border, Azerbaijan was just playing cat and
mouse with Armenia and the world. And again, it seems to our
philistines that delimitation is of some value for Azerbaijan - they
cannot understand that this is just an effective mechanism for
forcing Armenia to unconditionally surrender by admitting its guilt
in the 'occupation' of foreign territories. With the termination of
the Minsk Group's activities, a way is opened for Azerbaijan to
declare Armenia an 'occupier' and further isolate and destroy the
Armenian state.
The analyst believes that with this Azerbaijan will close the entire
arsenal of political and legal facts about its gross violation of
international law and the aggression of 1992. It will close the
history of causing huge tragedy to people. Armenia will ultimately
remain an 'aggressor and occupier'.
Azerbaijan has been working in this direction for several years. Both
the trial and the reparations required are announced. And our
townspeople have no idea about this arsenal of accusations against
Azerbaijan, which are preserved by the 30-year history of attempts to
determine the status of Artsakh in the international format of the
CSCE/OSCE Minsk Group. Apparently, the subsequent demands of
Azerbaijan will sober up many actors- it was not for nothing that
Azerbaijan declared that the basic principle of settling relations
with Armenia would be its demands, and not the Alma-Ata Declaration.
Perhaps not everyone is completely clear about the essence of this
dangerous story, Manvel Sargsyan noted.
