Son of owner of jewelry trading center in Yerevan suspected of drug smuggling
ArmInfo. The son of the owner of the specialized gold and silver jewelry trading center "World of Gold" Artur Vagharshyan, possibly, was detained for the smuggling of
narcotic drugs. As the press service of the State Revenue Committee
of Armenia reported in response to the request of ArmInfo, on January
16, 2018 during the preliminary investigation of the criminal case
investigated by the Investigation Department of the department, Artur
Vagharshyan (formerly Abrahamyan) was detained on suspicion of
smuggling drugs through the state border of Armenia.
According to the information, on January 18, it was decided to
involve Arthur Vagharshian as an accused. He was charged on the
grounds of clause 1, part 3, Article 267.1 and p.2, part 2 of the
Art. 268 of the RA Criminal Code. The court of general jurisdiction
of the administrative districts of Kentron and Nork- Marash granted
the investigator's request and arrest was chosen as a preventive
measure against Vagharshyan. Nevertheless, already on January 26 this
year the lawyer's request for changing the measure of restraint was
satisfied by the court, and the accused was released. A preliminary
investigation into the case is ongoing.
At the same time, as reported by the Investigative Department of the
Committee, despite the information being circulated in the media,
Vagharsh Abrahamyan's wife, Nune Nalbandian, was not detained within
the investigation of the criminal case, and the search was not
conducted by the investigative body at the gold trade center.
Earlier, the media reported that the owner of the World of Gold
(Vosku Ashkhar) trade center Vagharsh Abrahamyan, his wife Nune
Nalbandyan, along with his son Arthur Abrahamyan, were detained for
smuggling marijuana, in particular, from the United States.
