RA Prime Minister: Armenia will continue to participate in NATO`s international peacekeeping missions
ArmInfo. Armenia will continue to participate in international peacekeeping missions of NATO, in particular in Afghanistan. This July 12, speaking in NATO at a meeting of the leaders of countries contributing to the peacekeeping
mission "Strong Assistance" in Afghanistan, said Prime Minister Nikol
Pashinyan.
According to him, as quoted by the press service of the Armenian
government, since 2010, Armenia has contributed to NATO's actions to
establish peace in Afghanistan. "We also appreciate the effective
cooperation with Germany, which is the best example of cooperation
between the NATO member country and the partner country," N.Pashinyan
said. According to him, Armenia is ready to continue participating in
the peacekeeping mission consisting of up to 130 servicemen. "We also
stated our readiness to participate in the NATO mission" Stable
Partnership ", which will replace the mission" Stable Assistance.
"Armenia will continue to contribute to the establishment of peace
and stability in Afghanistan," N.Pashinyan noted. "We are united by
strong faith and readiness to bring peace, security and stability to
the friendly people of Afghanistan," the head of the Armenian
government said, adding that Yerevan highly appreciates the efforts
of the Afghan government to raise the level of state building and
security that would be impossible without the loyalty of the Afghan
people , the army and security forces. However, much remains to be
done to make the process irreversible. A constructive approach and
discussion of the positions of all parties is necessary for the peace
process. Therefore, we must unite the efforts of the international
community exclusively to achieve a peaceful settlement, which is of
paramount importance for European security as a whole.
The Premier stressed that Armenia will continue to support
international efforts to strengthen stability and security. Peace and
security, he said, are of the utmost importance for sustainable
development, democracy and a free market economy. Recently, there
have been dramatic changes in Armenia in order to build a democratic
future. The victory of the velvet revolution, continued the Armenian
Prime Minister, was a manifestation of the maturity of the Armenian
society, its commitment to human rights and fundamental freedoms.
