Alexander Lapshin: Change of authorities in Armenia is possible only in case protests are not organized by authorites
ArmInfo."This is democracy-nation's right to express their opinion", well known Russian blogger Alexander Lapshin said during an interview with ArmInfo, giving estimates to the current inter political situation in Armenia. Lapshin came to Armenia to take part in In Tour Expo 2018 exhibition.
Lapshin noted that, on the one hand, such events occur not only in Armenia, but in any more or less democratic country. "It's another matter how it all leads to bloodshed. I understand that the government is trying to keep everything under control. And even there is such an opinion, I can, of course, be mistaken that the authorities somehow have to do with the organization of these rallies. But in any case, there can be provocateurs on either side who can start to pour blood, "he said.
To the question whether mass popular demonstrations can lead to a change of power in Armenia, Lapshin noted that such a scenario is possible only if the authorities themselves are not at the head of the organization of the rallies. "These are my assumptions, maybe I'm wrong. But this is beneficial to the authorities, firstly, to show that the country is democratic. Thus, without changing anything, demonstrate that much has changed. In addition, this method allows you to release the accumulated steam, the accumulated anger. But I do not know, it's hard to say really. "
Returning to the question whether it is dangerous for a tourist to be in Armenia, Lapshin said. "Today is not dangerous, I do not know what would be tomorrow."
