European Commission representatives and Deputy Minister of Nature Protection discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in the field of environmental protection
ArmInfo. First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection, Erik Grigoryan, on January 31 received a delegation led by the head of the Eastern Partnership Department, as well as Belarus, Armenia and Azerbaijan, the European Commission's Directorate-General for Neighborhood Affairs Vasilis Maragos.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Nature Protection, during the meeting Erik Grigoryan presented the latest achievements in the field of sectoral development, as well as legislative initiatives and practical steps to preserve the rich biodiversity of Armenia. The First Deputy Minister of Nature Protection highly appreciated cooperation with international structures, in particular with the European Union, and stressed the importance of their support for solving problems in the field of nature protection. Erik Grigoryan also mentioned the expansion of bilateral cooperation with the EU member states in the field of environmental protection. Vasilis Maragos spoke about the opportunities for expanding cooperation in the field of environmental protection and promising programs after the signing of the new EU-Armenia Framework Agreement. The head of the delegation noted the readiness of the European Commission to help Armenia improve the environment. At the end of the meeting, agreements were reached to intensify the workshops and expand the scope of bilateral cooperation in the field of ecology.
