Ashotyan: Parliamentary diplomacy from a narrow street with one-way traffic should turn into a broad avenue with a multilateral movement
ArmInfo. After Armenia's transition to a parliamentary form of government, parliamentary diplomacy from a narrow street with a one-way movement should turn
into a broad prospect with a multilateral movement. Armen Ashotyan, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee, stated this from the rostrum of the National Assembly of Armenia.
He stressed the priorities of foreign policy, which the people's
deputies should pay attention to after the transition to a
parliamentary form of government. "First, we must step up our
activity in the Asian direction, there is a great potential, it is
also necessary to outline new vectors of cooperation with the Islamic
world," Ashotyan said.
The potential of parliamentary groups of friendships with different
countries is not being fully utilized. Ashotyan also stressed the
need for constant communication with the EU countries for prompt
ratification of the Agreement on comprehensive and expanded
partnership between Armenia and the EU. He stressed the need to
intensify cooperation with the Diaspora and lend its lobbying
activity towards international recognition of the Armenian Genocide
in the Ottoman Turkey a new angle - the achievement of international
recognition of Artsakh.
