The United Kingdom will help Armenia effectively combat corruption
ArmInfo. Armenian Justice Minister David Harutyunyan and British Ambassador Judith Margaret Farnworth signed a memorandum of understanding on the eve of the launch of the joint program "Assistance to the Government of Armenia in the Implementation of the Anti- Corruption Strategy."
According to the RA Ministry of Justice press service, the implementation of the program will contribute to the effective implementation of Armenia's anti-corruption strategy, the formation of an appropriate legislative framework, and to raise awareness of the civil society of the republic. David Harutyunyan thanked the Ambassador of Great Britain for assisting the government of Armenia in the fight against corruption and noted that the memorandum will become a good basis for further cooperation. The Minister stressed that the fight against corruption remains one of the priorities of the Armenian authorities and the government program for 2017-2022. David Harutyunyan presented the work already done.
In her turn, the ambassador noted that the promotion of such initiatives is consonant with the strategy of the British government - to stimulate the development of democracy, to promote transparency and protection of human rights. In this regard, as pointed out by Judith Margaret Farnworth, the UK welcomes the emphasis on fighting corruption in the new program of the Armenian government. The Ambassador expressed her hope that the implementation of the program will also contribute to the achievement of success in this area.
