YEREVAN, April 27. /ARKA/. The effective prices for drinking and irrigation water in Armenia will not be revised in the next 2 years, Arsen Harutyunyan, the head of the Water Management Committee, said to journalists on Thursday. In his words, the main factors affecting the prices are the minimum wage, electricity and fuel prices.Since January 1, 2017, Veolia Jur has been operating five water distribution companies across the country- Yerevan Jur, Armvodokanal, Shirak Vodokanal, Lori Vodokanal and Nor Akunk.
Harutyunyan added that tariffs for irrigation water will also remain the same. According to him, the current tariff for irrigation water - 11 drams per 1 cubic meter - was set in 2008, when the minimum wage was 24 thousand drams, and the tariff for electricity was 16 drams per 1 kWh.
"Since then almost 10 years have passed - the minimum wage has almost tripled, the tariff for electricity has also tripled, while irrigation water tariffs have remained unchanged. The real tariff for irrigation water today is 22 drams, and this difference is subsidized by the government," he said. . ($ 1 - 484.53 drams). -0-
