Modernization of three poultry farms in Armenia contributes to growth of production
The modernization of three large Armenian poultry farms in Nubarashen, Spitak and Lusakert, contributed to the growth of poultry production by 5 thousand tons, deputy agriculture minister Ashot Harutyunyan said on Thursday.
Speaking at an international poultry forum in Yerevan today, he said about 655 million eggs and 11,000 tons of poultry meat were produced in the country in 2016. According to him, eight poultry farms provide more than 50% of the total gross demand, and 10 poultry farms cover 90% of the demand for poultry meat.
Harutyunyan stressed that the development of poultry farming in Armenia was facilitated by technical progress, state support, and reforms in the field of veterinary and sanitary standards.
Sergey Shabaev, head of the Eurasian Poultry Association, said poultry farmers have gathered in Yerevan for sharing experience and deepening cooperation. He said sharing experience in this area is very important, since poultry farming is taught nowhere.
The International Poultry Forum is being held in Yerevan on April 26-28. --0--
