Armenia’s median gross monthly salary in 2016 was 188,851 drams or $393
The median gross monthly salary in Armenia in 2016 was 2.2% higher than in 2015 amounting to 188,851 drams ($393 or 26,266 Russian rubles), according to the latest numbers, released by the National Statistical Service (NSS).
The highest median gross salaries were in the southern Syunik region - 225,933 drams and in the capital city Yerevan – 201,192 drams, while the lowest salaries were in the central Aragatsotn region - 128,846 drams and northwestern Shirak -135 137 drams.
The most highly paid segment of the Armenian economy were, as usual, the financial and insurance sectors, where the median gross monthly salary was 411,513 drams, an increase of 5.5% over the previous year.
High salaries were boasted also by ICT sector - 392,362 drams and mining industry- 364,612 drams. The lowest salaries were in culture, entertainment and recreation sectors- 114,872 drams, agriculture, forestry and fisheries - 120 258 drams, education – 124,232 drams, hotels and catering - 124,175 drams.
According to JobFinder.am, some 37% of all vacancies (1,111 jobs) in 2016 were announced by ICT sector. ICT sector was followed by banks, accounting and finance - 544 job announcements, sales - 291, admin / office work - 228, advertising, marketing and PR - 156 job announcements.
The minimum monthly salary in Armenia, according to the latest official statistics, is 55,000 drams. The unemployment rate is 18.1%. ($ 1 - 486.7 drams). -0-
