Armenia’s jewelry industry more than doubles in ten months
Armenia’s jewelry industry more than doubled in the first ten months of the outgoing year year-on-year to about 28 4 billion drams, according to the National Statistical Service (NSS).
According to official figures, a total of 651.7 kg of jewelry was produced against 825 kg in the same period last year. At the same time diamond production amounted to 97, 001 carats against 59,156 carats in January-October 2015.
The export of precious and semi-precious stones, precious metals and items surged by 85% to $287.7 million, while imports of these types of products increased by 39.5% to $125.7 million. ($ 1 - 482.26 drams). -0-
