Armenian ombudsman has objections to cuts in government-provided financing for his office
Arman Tatoyan, Armenian ombudsman, said Thursday he had objections to cuts in financing for his office in the 2017 draft government budget.
“We submitted our categorical objections to the finance ministry,” he said. “I think the matter should be settled.”
In his words, he intends to increase his employees’ salaries and provide them with social protection.
“This means there can’t be cuts here,” Tatoyan said adding that his personnel should not work for lower salaries than employees of any ministry or judicial institution.
Tatotyan doesn’t know how much the office budget will be increased after his objection.
In the 2017 draft government budget, AMD 251 million is earmarked for the ombudsman office.
This amount is less than that of the previous year by AMD 4.3 million. --0---
