Speaking at a news conference he said warm air masses are approaching Armenia from Iraq and in the next week or so the entire territory of the country will be under the influence of these masses.He said the maximum temperature in Armenia these days will be registered on March 3 and 4. In the Ararat Valley the air will warm up to 22-23 degrees Celsius; in Tavush and Syunik regions the temperature is likely to rise to 24-25 degrees Celsius. ‘We are having an abnormally warm weather,’ Surenyan stressed.
He said beginning from Wednesday the air temperature in the Ararat Valley will increase sharply to reach 8-10 degrees Celsius at night.
‘This year’s February, in climatic terms, was exceptional: from February 15th to this day the air temperature throughout the country has remained consistently high This is very rare, the last time this sort of high temperature was recorded in 1966," said Surenyan.
He noted that over the past 15 days, the average air temperature was above the norm by 8-10 degrees, and on some days by 14 degrees.
"Yesterday, the highest temperature was recorded in Bagratashen (21 degrees Celsius); in Ararat Valley it was 19-20 degrees,’ he said.-0-
