Minister: no purge expected in health ministry
Armenia’s health minister Armen Muradyan declined today media reports claiming that a major purge is expected in his ministry.
Reports in the Armenian media allege that prime minister Hovik Abrahamyan is displeased with the minister’s performance and is planning to implement major personnel changes in the ministry. Late last year the prime minister said there were a lot of complaints from those citizens who failed to implement their right to free medical treatment.
"There were some problems and proposals how to address them. All these problems can be resolved. Moreover, we are discussing now an optimization plan based on institutional principles and in accordance with the strategy of development of the health sector in the coming years,' Muradyan said today.
He noted that according to the proposals for the development of different priorities and needs assessment On the citizens’ right to free medical treatment, he said in 2014 329,000 such applications were satisfied and 326,000 in 2015.
"The government has assumed a heavy burden and it is natural that in the course of its implementation some problems may arise. Regardless of financial mechanisms, social tensions occur in any country because health issues are rarely evoke positive emotions with the exception of childbirth and plastic surgery," the minister said.-0-
