Transparency International to monitor voter lists ahead of referendum in Armenia
Transparency International Anti- Corruption Center (TIAC) in Armenia has launched software on its website to monitor the lists of voters ahead of December 6 referendum on constitutional reforms, the executive director of the center Varuzhan Hoktanyan said today.
He said the software has already been used to monitor voter lists ahead of 2012 parliamentary and 2013 presidential and municipal elections.
According to him, the outcome of all elections held in the country since 1995 were questionable. "The 2012 and subsequent elections showed that vote rigging is carried out covertly, including incorrect electoral lists,’ he said.
According to him, this software will help voters to monitor the voting process. He said also the voter lists are taken from the official site of the Armenian Police. In addition, data from the National Statistical Service are also used. He said the software allows to count the number of voters by age, place of residence and other indicators.
He said according to the lists, in Armenia there are 167 voters aged 100-120, which is very doubtful, including nine people aged 110-120.
"It is also strange that the lists include more than 4.5 thousand citizens registered at apartments and houses with no numbers," Hoktanyan said. -0-
