Anti-corruption strategy for 2015-2018 upheld in Armenia
Armenia's government upheld Friday its anti-corruption strategy for 2015-2018.
Justice Minister Arpine Hovhannisyan, speaking at the government session, said there are four targets in the strategy – healthcare, education, revenue collection and services the police provide to the population.
In her words, separate projects will be implemented in these areas. She said the strategy implies substantial legislative reforms.
Armenia, with 37 points, came 94th among 174 countries in Transparency International Organization's Corruption Perception Index ranking in 2014. Azerbaijan, with 29 points, ranked 126th and Georgia, with 52 points, 50th.
The annual Corruption Perceptions Index, released by the Berlin-based Transparency International, ranks countries and territories based on how corrupt their public sector is perceived to be.
A country or territory’s score indicates the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale of 0 (highly corrupt) to 100 (very clean). A country or territory's rank indicates its position relative to the other countries and territories in the index.
The index is a combination of surveys and is based on corruption data received from various organizations. --0----
