Wildberries to open logistics and sorting centers in Armenia
Tatiana Bakalchuk, the founder and CEO of Wildberries, the largest online retailer in Russia, had a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan in Yerevan today.
YEREVAN, December 27. /ARKA/. Tatiana Bakalchuk, the founder and CEO of Wildberries, the largest online retailer in Russia, had a meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly Hakob Arshakyan in Yerevan today.
Arshakyan said in a Facebook post that prospects of e-commerce development as well as development of legislative framework in line with the development of international e-trade were discussed during the meeting. Wildberries is planning to implement large-scale investments in Armenia and build new logistics and sorting centers.
The parties also discussed the possibilities of exporting products of local producers to international markets. In this context, the importance of developing cooperation with Armenia's national postal operator, Haypost, was stressed.
"Tatiana Bakalchuk thanked for the invitation and noted with satisfaction the growth of sales of Armenian producers' products through the Wildberries platform to about $8 million per year. The company is expected also to cooperate with 60 branches of Haypost in 2022," according to the Facebook post.
During Bakalchuk's visit a number of meetings and the signing of an agreement between Wildberries and Haypost is planned.
Wildberries is the largest online retailer in Russia, operating since 2004. It is present in 17 countries: all of Russia, Armenia, USA, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belarus, Kazakhstan and others. Wildberries' turnover in 2020 reached 437.2 billion rubles (+ 96% year on year).
The Wildberries list of goods includes almost 4 million products of more than 30 thousand Russian and foreign brands: clothing and footwear, accessories, beauty products, children's products, appliances and electronics, household goods, jewelry, food, books and much more. --0--
