YEREVAN, September 21. /ARKA/. President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron sent a congratulatory message to Armenia’s President Armen Sarkissian on the occasion of Armenia’s Independence Day, Sarkissian’s press office said.
In the message Macron says that over the last 30 years, since gaining independence, Armenia and its people have overcome a number of trials to have strengthened its democratic institutions and having built a modern democratic state.
‘France and Armenia are linked by privileged relations rooted in deep history. These close and trusting friendly relations continue today in all areas. I hope that this connection, which constitutes the richness of our bilateral relations, will deepen in various spheres of cooperation, such as culture, education, healthcare and economy,’ Macron’s message says.
He says France wants to play its role in bringing peace to the region, and in this spirit, it supports Armenia to help it overcome the problems it faces a year after the bloody war in Nagorno-Karabakh. In this regard, France will be particularly committed to preserving the region's rich cultural heritage, which reflects the uniqueness and wealth of the South Caucasus, the message says.
“We will spare no effort to help find a lasting solution to the conflict within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, to stabilize the situation in the South Caucasus for the sake of regional development and prosperity. This also implies the resumption of dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the Minsk Group co-chairs. France as a co-chair country is ready to support this issue," the message says.
