Armenian president to celebrate Nagorno Karabakh's Independence Day
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, who is now in Nagorno-Karabakh Republic for a working visit, will attend today and tomorrow festivities dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the declaration of the republic’s independence, the press office of the Armenian president reported on Tuesday.
The independence from Azerbaijan was declared on September 2, 1991, after a referendum, where the majority of the population (99.89%) voted for secession from Azerbaijan.
Today the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is a completely accomplished state that has its democratic traditions, independent foreign policy, fast developing economy and strong army.
Karabakh people’s self-determination right is not disputed by the international community. It is one of the principles for solving the problem. ---0---
