School curricula in Armenia to be revised – education minister
School curricula in Armenia will be revised, Armenian Education and Science Minister Amen Ashotyan said as he visited school #2 in Yerevan on September 1, marked as the Day of Knowledge.
«Armenian school curricula are among the most complicated school curricula in Europe,» he said. «Very often our textbooks, particularly for high school, don't differ from first-year students' notes,» he said.
Ashotyan said that the ministry had announced an international tender to revise the school curricula, and ten organizations from Germany, France and the Great Britain responded, but later it changed its mind because the proposed services were too expensive.
«We have announced another tender, in which Armenian national organizations can take part, and we will release the results soon,» he is quoted by Novosti-Armenia as saying.
The minister also said that many Armenian professors and academicians are not able to compose textbooks because of the lack of experience in pedagogical psychology.
«Textbooks are very heavy because we want to provide much knowledge to students within a short period of time,» he said. ---0-----
