Schoolchildren in Armenia’s Fioletovo village enter today their repaired school
Schoolchildren in Fioletovo village, Armenia, entered today their repaired school. The school was repaired with support from the South Caucasus Railways CJSC.
Viktor Rebets, the company CEO, told journalists that the second block of the school building has not been used since the earthquake, like gyms and event halls.
He refrained from revealing how much money had been spent on the repair, but said that the reconstruction continues and expressed hope that the South Caucasus Railways and local authorities’ joint efforts will make it possible to maintain normal functioning of the school.
Russian Ambassador to Armenia Ivan Volinkin, on his side, said that visits to this school in Fioletovo have already become traditional.
“This is a real tradition and this is as it should be, since our compatriots’ children attending this school and this places us under certain obligations,” he said. “We visit this school with pleasure and I am grateful to Viktor Rebets and the South Caucasus Railways’ staff for the job they have done here.”
Arthur Nalbandyan, Lori province governor, and the school’s managers thanked the company as well.
Some 140 children attend this school. Fifteen kids enrolled in the school this year and eight will graduate.
South Caucasus Railway, a subsidiary of Russian Railways, runs Armenian Railway, which was handed over to the South Caucasus Railway on February 13, 2008 for 30-year concession management with a right to prolong the management term for other 10 years. ---0----
