YEREVAN, April 21. /ARKA/. "We strongly condemn aspirations of President of Azerbaijan to use force against territorial integrity of Armenia,' Armenian Foreign Ministry's press secretary Anna Naghdalyan said in a comment on Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's interview with one of the Azerbaijani TV channels, in which he made threats to use force against Armenia.
'Such statements seriously undermine regional peace and stability and reveal the false nature of Azerbaijan's recent statements on peace and reconciliation," she said.
In the interview Aliyev threatened to take Armenia's southern region of Zangezur by force, “whether Armenia wants it or not.”
“The creation of the Zangezur corridor fully meets our national, historical and future interests. We will be implementing the Zangezur Corridor, whether Armenia wants it or not. If Armenia wants to, we will solve this issue more easily, if it does not, we will solve it by force,”Aliyev said.
“Just as before and during the war, I said that they must free themselves from our lands, or we will expel them by force. And so it happened. The same will be the fate of the Zangezur corridor,” added Aliyev.
“Our main rival is time, because the construction of a railway and a highway takes time. Therefore, all forces have been mobilized to implement this project. Thus, the Azerbaijani people will return to Zangezur, which was taken away from us 101 years ago,” stressed Aliyev.
“Armenia will take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Naghdalyan said. “We are in permanent contacts with our strategic ally and with all of our partners who are interested in peace in the South Caucasus,” she stressed. -0-
