Azerbaijan hands to Armenian side remains of 106 persons killed in Artsakh war
Azerbaijan has handed over to the Armenian side the remains of another 106 armed servicemen killed during the hostilities, the State Emergency Service of the Artsakh Ministry of Internal Affairs reported Wednesday morning.
The transfer of bodies took place in the Martuni district at the crossroads of the Karmir Shuka - Sheher communities.
Sometime after that, Artsakh rescuers, headed by the director of the State Emergency Service of Artsakh, Colonel Mekhak Arzumanyan, transported the bodies to Stepanakert.
"They are all unrecognizable. It is assumed that they were previously buried and, after exhumation, transported from Varanda (Fizuli), Hadrut and Jrakan (Jebrail) regions," the ministry said.
Artsakh Interior Minister Karen Sargsyan arrived at the Stepanakert Bureau of Forensic Medicine.
The minister assured that all possible steps are being taken in the direction of searching for dead or missing servicemen, indicating that the negotiations will continue.
He also expressed condolences to the parents of the dead servicemen, wished them strength and patience to overcome the nationwide pain.
The State Emergencies Service reported that the total number of bodies found after the establishment of the ceasefire as a result of search operations or transferred by Azerbaijan is 1,485.
In this regard, Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan posted on Facebook that on the basis of the agreement reached within the framework of cooperation on humanitarian issues, and through the mediation of the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Artsakh, the Azerbaijani side today handed to the Armenuian side the bodies of 106 persons who died during the 44-day war.
According to Harutyunyan, the search for the bodies of those who died during the last war and who probably survived continues.
"In addition, both sides began to make efforts to search and exchange the remains of those killed from the Armenian and Azerbaijani sides during the war of the 1990s," the president wrote.

On November 9, the leaders of the Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a statement on the cessation of all hostilities in Artsakh. According to the document, the parties stop at their positions. The city of Shushi, Agdam, Kelbajar and Lachin regions pass over to Azerbaijan, with the exception of a 5-kilometer corridor connecting Karabakh with Armenia. A Russian peacekeeping contingent will be deployed along the contact line in Karabakh and along the Lachin corridor. Internally displaced persons and refugees are returning to Karabakh and adjacent regions, prisoners of war, hostages and other detained persons and bodies of the dead are exchanged. --0-
