Subvention programs worth AMD 4.4 billion planned in Shirak
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan chaired Wednesday a working meeting in Shirak province, where he pointed out the need to synchronize the work of state structures and local self-government bodies.
He noted that in 2019 there were serious advances in Shirak region and Gyumri, which, however, slowed down due to the coronavirus and the war, in connection with which it is necessary not only to implement the envisaged programs, but also to formulate new ones that would correspond to the slogan “Let's build Armenia in a news way”.
Asphalt to help investors
Hovhannes Harutyunyan, governor of Shirak province, said at the meeting that in 2020, due to the war and coronavirus, programs in the region were completed by 80-90%, in connection with which, it is planned to implement both current and under-fulfilled programs in 2021.
He noted that in 2020, subvention programs worth 3.3 billion drams were implemented in the region for the development of infrastructures in communities. And for 2021, the communities have already submitted 62 applications for subvention programs worth 4.4 billion drams.
Nikol Pashinyan noted that given the specifics of the past year, it is necessary to implement large-scale capital programs in the country with renewed impetus.
“There should be no good, productive, meaningful programs without funding. It is necessary to stimulate all communities and investors to implement such programs, which will have the maximum economic result and at the same time ensure the quality and efficiency of construction work,” Pashinyan said.
The prime minister said that in order to encourage investment programs, the government will be ready to help investors in infrastructure construction - laying asphalt, building gas and water networks. Thus, capital investments will be encouraged, which will give economic results and will contribute to the creation of new jobs.
Harutyunyan, presenting the situation in the agricultural sector, noted that of the 78,000 hectares of arable land available in the region, in 2020 only 47,000 hectares were cultivated, in connection with which work is underway to increase the cultivated areas, encourage the creation of modern gardens and greenhouses.
About Gyumri without figures
Samvel Balasanyan, the city mayor, said that about 70 modern buses will be delivered to the city within a year, which will significantly improve the transport network. However, he did not indicate the amount and at whose expense the program will be implemented.
The mayor only noted that within the framework of subvention programs, photovoltaic panels will be installed in the city, mainly for municipal institutions. Speaking about road repairs, he noted that work is already underway within the framework of subvention programs, funds from the EBRD and other programs, due to which it is planned to repair 180 km of roads in Gyumri (70% of the city's streets) by 2022. The amounts to be directed for these purposes were not indicated. –0--
