YEREVAN, April 20. /ARKA/. Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of the Civil Contract party and the head of YELQ opposition faction in the Armenian National Assembly, spoke on likely ways of development of the velvet revolution in Armenia. nbsp;br

On Tuesday, the Armenian National Assembly has elected ex-president Serzh Sargsyan as prime minister.br
As many as 77 MPs voted for him and 17 against. nbsp;br
br
Serzh Sargsyan was the only candidate for the prime-ministerial post. He was nominated by the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation/Dashnaktsutiun.nbsp;br
br
Mass protests broke out in Yerevan on April 13, which developed into civil unrest. People have revolted against the third term of Serzh Sargsyan’ staying in power.nbsp;br
br
On April 17, Nikol Pashinyan announced the beginning of a velvet revolution, which will rid the country of Serzh Sargsyan’s regime, and protesters blockaded buildings of government establishments.nbsp;br
br
He warned people against responding to the provocations ordered for hindering the peaceful course of the protests and trigger clashes between protesters and the police.nbsp;br
br
“We are discussing likely scenarios of development of events and we don’t rule out that the velvet revolution may achieve its local final in the next few days,” Pashinyan said Friday during a peaceful march.nbsp;br
br
He also didn’t rule out that the day of change of power may be April 24, the Day of Armenian Genocide Victims Commemoration. nbsp;br
br
“We are planning to visit Tsitsernakaberd to remember victims of the Armenian Genocide,” he said. “It can be assumed that on this very day power will change in the country. We are discussing this scenario now.”br
br
He said that further steps will be announced at today’s rally on the Republic Square in Yerevan, which is scheduled for 19:00 local time.nbsp;br
br
Commenting on his possible role in the new power in the event of success of the velvet revolution and his possible premiership, Pashinyan said he has no right to decide such issues and this is the people’s authority. nbsp;br
br
”Such decisions should be made by people,” he said.nbsp;br
br
If people decide so, he said, he will be left with no option but to comply with their decision. --0----br
