He said water consumption has dropped from 2.5 billion cubic meters in 2013 to 1.5 billion cubic meters now. He said the drop in water consumption is not caused by a government's campaign to shut down illegal wells in the Ararat valley which were consuming huge amounts of artesian water for local fish farms.br

According to Davtyan, fish farms will have to install water-saving systems. He said a pilot program on installation of such A system was already underway. He added that the agency succeeded last year in savings 5,000 liters of water per second, which is 23% of the total volume of groundwater consumed by the fish farms in the Ararat region. -0-br
