Top Builds from Tokyo Auto Salon 2014

Our team just got back from Tokyo Auto Salon and have just started to acclimate to the time but we are here to give you the rundown of the best builds we saw at Auto Salon. With over 800 vehicles, this wasn't easy to do!

                                                 

Honorable Mention

Understandably, we are going to be a little biased toward our own car so we decided to have it as an honorable mention as one of the top builds at TAS 2014. Our Scion FR-S Concept One is a truly unique beast meant to be the little brother of the Lexus Supercar LF-A. This is the first time that any American built car has been invited to be a main feature car at a top booth during Tokyo Auto Salon. We were extremely proud that RAYS wanted to have our Scion FR-S showing off their Volk Racing G25s. Amuse Performance was grateful enough to do some proper tuning on the car. 

Sea of Toyota 86 / Scion FR-S's

The Toyota FT86 / Scion Fr-S / Subaru BRZ was the car to mod this year around TAS 2014. While there are some incredible looking 86's around, here are our top builds.

                                                  

GReddy showed up with a couple of 86's this year. Not a huge surprise as GReddy was one of the first tuner to start tuning this platform. Both versions of the 86 that GReddy brought to Tokyo Auto Salon were sporting the Rocket Bunny body kit. Version 1 is the white 86 with the blue and yellow accents. The Version 2 is in GReddy's signature baby blue color with Work Wheels VS-XX on each corner. Check out the Turbo kit on the Version 1 that GReddy has become famous for.

A real show stopper was at the Kuhl Racing Factory booth. The Kuhl Toyota 86 was unexpected since Kuhl Racing Factory is known for working on Toyota Prius but even they couldn't resist putting together a build around the Scion FR-S. The body kit itself is very aggressive looking at home under the bright lights of the show room at Tokyo Auto Salon. What really set this build apart was the "paint". It is a custom paint that was applied by Artis Company’s Takahiko Izawa making this one of the top builds at Tokyo Auto Salon.

Just like Kuhl, Aimgain stepped outside of their normal wheelhouse to put together one of the cleanest bodykits at Tokyo Auto Salon for the Toyota 86. Aimgain is well known for developing Lexus style body kits. You can see a lot of that influence in the front bumper, mimicking the Lexus style grill for a more upscale look on the Toyota 86. This top build from Aimgain is calling this build the LF-Sport 86. 

 

Rocky Auto R32 GT-R

This car could have easily gone unnoticed at Tokyo Auto Salon unless you take a good look at it. If you are a fan of the older GT-R body style, this is the car you will be drooling all over. What sets this car apart is that this in no Kenmeri GT-R with a RB engine swap. That just seemed too easy for Watanabe-san, the owner of Rocky Auto! Instead he took an R32 chassis and did a complete Kenmeri body swap with original body panels and glass.

Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 racecar

eExpected to compete against the highly anticipated Honda NSX-GT and the Lexus RC F GT500 this year in Super GT's GT500 class. While it would be hard for most of the other booths to compete with the amount of time, money, and effort that goes in to a race car like this. The NISMO GT500 car really stood out amongst the rest of the exhibits as one of the top builds. This year Nissan GT-R NISMO GT500 saw some minor aerodynamic updates to keep the car in regulation.
