53 Stars Who Protested Trump at Women’s March, From Madonna to Scarlett Johansson (Photos)
The day after Donald Trump officially becomes the 45th President of the United States, hundreds of thousands of protesters are set to take part in the Women’s March in Washington D.C. and in several other cities across the nation. The national march has drawn the attention of many celebrities, much of whom were supporters of Hillary Clinton during the election. Here’s the celebs we know will be marching so far. This list will be updated as the march draws closer.
She said during the election that she would leave the country if Trump won. Instead, she will be leading a Women’s March in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Film Festival.
Handler will be joined by several other celebrities, including “Orange Is The New Black” star Uzo Aduba.
America Ferrara
The actress watched Clinton’s defeat at the Democratic candidate’s NYC watch party. In a statement announcing her participation in the D.C. March, Ferrara called on artists to “stand together in solidarity for the protection, dignity and rights of our communities.”
Cher was also with Ferrara at the election night rally and became known for her intense anti-Trump tweets last year. Her participation in the D.C. March was announced through the March’s organizers.
Padma Lakshmi
Lakshmi told Rolling Stone: “I am offended on behalf of Mexicans. I am offended on behalf of Muslims. I am offended on behalf of everything that this country and the Constitution stands for.”
Nyong’o, who has a history of appearing at women’s health rights rallies, will march in D.C.
Perry will march in D.C. after performing at the Democratic National Convention and allowing Clinton to use her song “Roar” in a campaign ad.
She openly supported Clinton on her show “Full Frontal” during both the primary and general elections. Now she will take part in the D.C. march.
One of the youngest celebrities taking part in the march is Yara Shahidi from “Black-ish,” which just aired an episode addressing Trump’s victory.
Moore, who called Trump’s rhetoric during the election “incredibly detrimental to us as a society,” will take part in the D.C. March
She told TheWrap: “I am going to march. I have a film at Sundance and there’s a march planned there, I’m going to march, and use my voice, and stand up. It’s no longer sufficient to sit behind your computer or just watch as events unfold. Your civil liberties are not necessarily guaranteed and you must learn to fight for them each and every day. You have to learn to fight for that thing that we’ve taken for granted for so long. I learned that to an extraordinary degree when I went to Standing Rock, and when I started following what was going on there, with the water protectors. How easily there can be civil rights abuses and nobody will pay attention, until enough people stand up.”
Sheri Shepherd
She told TheWrap she will be at the Los Angeles march: “I’m gonna be there! I’ve got my flats and my heels.”
