Alfa's sexy new Giulia is the four-door that fits like an Italian suit
The 4C, a visceral, bantamweight sports car, may have been the tip of Alfa Romeo's comeback arrow but it's the sexy, long-awaited Giulia that will be doing the heavy lifting in Alfa's bid to get traction in the U.S.
The all-new platform has aluminum frames, doors, fenders and suspension components.
The Quadrifoglio goes even further with a carbon fiber hood, roof panel, drive shaft, front splitter, rear spoiler and rocker panel moldings.
The aluminum, direct-injection 2.0-liter's 306 lb.-ft. of torque and eight-speed ZF automatic transmission are perfectly matched.
Alfa nails it with a driver-centric cockpit that, depending on model and option package, offers four different seat styles, six interior schemes that include trim in genuine dark oak, light walnut, brushed aluminum or carbon fiber.
The handsome seats are comfortable and there's good legroom for rear passengers.
The instrument panel features the classic two pods for speedometer and tachometer and between them the modern necessity of a 7-inch full-color screen for settings and vehicle information.
All models have LED ambient lighting, reading/courtesy lamps auto-dimming/power fold-away and heated outside mirrors, automatic climate control with outlets for front and rear occupants and at least an eight-speaker stereo.
