Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark, has been condemned by the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) for his position on the restructuring and ongoing militancy in the Niger Delta region.
In a statement by its spokesman, Jomo Gbomo, on Sunday, August 21, the group said Clark lacks the moral authority to be championing for restructuring of the country, The Punch reports.
The group accused Clark and other leaders of the region of being silent during the 6-year administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

According to the group, those who attended the meeting lack the capacity to persuade the people of the Niger Delta to support the current efforts of the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to bring peace and development to the region.
The group said it was in support of the use of military against the militants in the region.
Report surfaced earlier today that the Avengers had declared a ceasefire while indicating its readiness for negotiation with the federal government.
