Armed group must surrender – minister
Armenia’s Minister of Economy Artsvik Minasyan, following a cabinet meeting on Thursday, commented on the latest developments in Armenia’s capital.
De-escalation requires tolerance, common sense and a need for the armed group to realize that law and constitutional norms must be in effect in Armenia and they must surrender.
Speaking of police actions, Mr Minasyan said:
“As far as I am informed of police actions, I highly appreciate their tolerance.”
On the other hand, he admits a probe could reveal some bases of abuse.
“In some instances we see that some people are obviously provoking thus violating all other people’s rights.”
As for the complaints over the authorities’ silence, Minasyan cited the prime minister’s statement which he said contained a clear message.
“As a representative of the political force which is a member of the [governing] coalition, I say the process is now in the law enforcers’ domain,” he said, warning against further tension.
