Chinonso Obasi has been appointed as the new president of the National Association of Nigerian Students on Tuesday, July 19.

Taiwo Bamigbade of the Federal University of Technology in Akure has been elected the new president of NANS senate.

Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state has met Mr Obasi and his team after police established peace and order at Pantami Stadium, venue of the 31st NANS convention.
What you need to know about new NANS president
Mr Obasi was born to the family of Ogbonnaya Obasi on April 27, 1987, in Ugoni Okposi, Ohaozara LGA Ebonyi state.
He attended Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Staff Primary School (1993-1999), Federal Government College Okposi (1999-2005) and Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana (2005-2010) where he became the Director of Socials.

He was also special adviser to the SUG Caretaker Committee Chairman (2007) and SUG President (2009/2010). He is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering (Production).
His National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) assignment held between 2014-2015 and he is currently doing his masters at Ebonyi state University.
