168 Zham: Karabakh blitzkrieg proved EEU’s antagonistic nature for Armenia

Last month’s escalations over Nagorno-Karabakh practically demonstrated that the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) is an antagonistic structure for Armenia, the paper says, commenting upon the bloc's recent intergovernmental session in Yerevan.

The reason, according to the paper, is not only the fact that most of the member states maintain strategic alliance with Azerbaijan but also Russia’s somewhat non-discriminatory attitude to that country (despite being Armenia’s strategic ally).

The four-day war in April is thought to have demonstrated also that Nagorno-Karabakh is an object of bargaining for Russia on its way towards integrating Azerbaijan into the EEU.

“The prime ministers of that bloc – in which [Armenia’s] membership cost the April war that claimed over a hundred soldiers’ lives -  held a session in Yerevan yesterday. They were killed as early as a month ago, during the war that caused the EEU leaders to boycott [the session in] Yerevan not to offend Baku. Glory and honor to Armenian diplomats,” writes the paper.
