De Gea was under pressure in his early day at Manchester United following some uninspiring displays and he look set to return to sign after signing from Atletico Madrid.
“[There were] some moments where you think ‘that’s not my place, I have to come back to Spain’. The weather, the language. There were difficult moments, but I fight,” De Gea told Avtex Sports.
He continued by saying a freekick from a Juan Mata freekick when the latter was still at Chelsea gave him the confidence to play better.

Man United and Chelsea were playing a 3 – 3 draw at Stamford Bridge when Mata played a 90th minute freekick which looked destined for the net until De Gea saved.
“Juan Mata, the free-kick, probably was the point [where] everything changed. I played better, better, better,” the 25 year old said.
De Gea also believes his performance against Andy Carroll in United’s 2-2 draw with West Ham at Upton Park in April 2013 showed how far he had progressed.
“This game was a tough game against Carroll. And I felt strong in the moment, I’d worked hard.”
