Pastor Luka Ubangari of the Redeemed Christian Church of God at Shawa village, near Godogodo, in Jema’a local government area of Kaduna state has been reportedly killed by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.
He was said to have been ambushed, shot and killed while returning from evangelism to Golkofa village on Sunday, August 21, The Punch reports.
A source who pleaded anonymity expressed shock that herdsmen have continued to kill incessantly despite Governor El-Rufai’s promise of safety.

“We were happy that the Governor (Nasir El-Rufai) had visited and assured us of improved security and that the killers would be found and punished.
“To our shock, Pastor Luka Ubangari was ambushed, shot and killed as he was riding his motorcycle home after an evangelical visit to Golkofa,” the source said.
The incident came few days after El-Rufai, the state governor, condemned incessant herdsmen killings during his visit to the area.
In a bid to address the recent killings in Southern Kaduna, El-Rufai on Tuesday, August 16, chaired a meeting of the state security council in Kafanchan, headquarters of Jema’a local government area.
The governor described the killings as ‘senseless’ and promised that perpetrators will be arrested and punished.
