A’s Rich Hill exits after five pitches, Sean Manaea forced into action
Rich Hill, one of the top trade chips on the mid-summer market, left Sunday’s start five pitches in after a blister on his left hand appeared to pop.
Andrew Triggs took over with a 3-2 count to Devon Travis, then he was struck on the left knee by a liner by Josh Donaldson, the second batter of the game.
Triggs remained in for the remainder of the first inning, but immediately headed to the clubhouse after the inning and Tuesday’s scheduled starter, Sean Manaea, came in for the second inning.
“We’re all going to go play golf now,” one joked after Hill’s exit not even one batter into the game.
