JUST IN: Premier League champions appoint new coach

– Enyimba has fortified its technical crew with the appointment of Samson Unuanel

– The former Sunshine Stars handler joins Paul Aigbogun on the bench 

– Unanuel had worked with the Peoples Elephant between 2009-10 season

Following a string of poor results, Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enyimba have strengthened their technical crew with the appointment of Coach Samson Unuanel, Goal.com reports.

The Peoples Elephant have lost four of its last five games with the home defeat against Zamalek in the CAF Champions League the most recent.

However, having worked with the Peoples Elephant between 2009-10 season, Enyimba have decided to recall Unanuel who will work together with Paul Aigbogun until the end of the 2015-16 term, with an option of contract extension.

“I feel honoured rejoining the team I worked with six years ago.

 “They believe in my tactical and managerial skills and I will put in my best effort to justify my appointment and never to let them down.

“My target is to win many laurels with them starting with Nigeria Premier League and the Caf Champions League where I believe we still stand a good chance to reach the next stage despite losing to Zamalek.

“Enyimba are a great club with rich history and my combo with Aigbogun will work wonders,” Unuanel told Goal.com.

Enyimba face Abia Warriors in a rescheduled NPFL game on Wednesday, June 22, before plotting how they must beat Group B leaders Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, in their next fixture on June 29, to boost their chances of making it to the last four.

Unuanel was sacked by Sunshine Stars in March, 2016 after a slow start to the season and was replaced by coach Solomon Ogbeide.
