Video: LGA in Lagos lets residents do the unspeakable on the beach
– A pristine beach in Lagos state is being used as a public toilet
– Its golden sands are being befouled by residents of the Alfa community
– Public defecation is illegal in Nigeria but it remains a very common practice
Nigeria is a country blessed with amazing scenery and beautiful beaches, and the nation’s largest city is no exception.
Lagos’ beaches stretch out along the Atlantic Ocean and with their golden sands have the potential of being turned into a tourist destination fit for Africa’s greatest city.
Sights such as this have become common along Nigeria’s beaches
If they are to be turned into a destination that will attract tourists though, one serious problem needs to be sorted out: public defecation.
The disgusting practice all too widespread in Nigeria despite it being illegal.

According to local sources, Alfa beach community in the Etiosa local government area in Lagos state is allowing its residents to freely answer the call of nature on the beach.
A NAIJ.com contributor has sent us video of several people defecating openly on the beach.
Our source can be seen walking down the beach, capturing several individuals in the act on video before going on to speak with them.
Despite public defecation being illegal, many Nigerians do it like this man
“The Alfa beach community in Etiosa made it legal for the residents to use the beach front as toilets and that contradicted the state law on open defecation,” our source said.
“This is a place people from every part of the world come to hang out.
“It is a shame for the state government and the leaders of Alfa beach community.
“I like to see the true nature sitting by the beach side but am getting discouraged from the altitude of the Alfa beach community towards the beach front.”
