Apple announces revamped 4-inch iPhone, 9.7-inch iPad Pro
Apple introduced a revamped 4-inch iPhone and a 9.7 inch iPad Pro on Monday, a nod to a large segment of the company’s audience that doesn’t want bigger devices. The SE, which starts at $399 for a 16 GB version, includes features found in the larger models, such as a fingerprint reader, Apple Pay and a 12 MP camera. CEO Tim Cook kicked off the event by saying the company would continue to resist government attempts to force Apple to unlock data in a terrorist’s iPhone. Apple’s new iPhone enhancements are meant to keep up with competitors like Samsung, which earlier this month released its latest large-screen phones, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. Social media sentiment about Apple’s brand dipped in January and February, according to a report by the Adobe Digital Index, the analytics arm of Adobe Systems. “The last round of product enhancements just didn’t get as much enthusiasm,” said Tamara Gaffney, the research unit’s director and principal analyst.
