Beirut’s Zach Condon makes a low-key return
Suffering from exhaustion following a relentless touring schedule and the emotional aftermath of a divorce, he was ready to walk away from it all. The funeral mariachi horns, French chansons and Eastern European rhythms are scaled back on “No No No,” in favor of a set of swooning indie folk songs that clocks in at under 30 minutes. “In the past, I had this overwhelming desire to knock people over the head with music, as some sort of blunt instrument,” Condon said in a recent NPR interview.
