Well done - AU leader Conde salutes President Buhari's anti-corruption war

Chairman of the African Union Alpha Conde has praised Nigeria's president Muhammadu Buhari's war against corruption and his leadership role in Africa.
Conde said this during a meeting with President Buhari on Friday, October 20 night on the sidelines of the D-8 summit in Istanbul, Turkey.
"In his remarks, Conde praised Nigeria’s leadership on the continent, particularly President Buhari’s great job on anti-corruption and his strong voice on African issues at the international stage," presidential aide Garba Shehu revealed in a statement on Saturday, October 21.
On his part, the statement quoted President Buhari as saying that African leaders must speak ‘with one voice’, independent of foreign influence, to achieve economic integration, development, peace, and security on the continent.

The statement added: "President Buhari said leaders should learn from history to effectively tackle conflicts, violent extremism, and proliferation of small arms and light weapons.
"The two Presidents, who met on the margins of the ninth D8 Summit in Istanbul, exchanged views on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest.
"President Buhari assured his Guinean counterpart, who is also the current Chairman of AU that Nigeria would continue to strengthen its engagement with all AU member states to address current security challenges in restive areas such as South Sudan and Libya, and the political crisis in Togo."
President Buhari also met with Prime Minister of Pakistan Shahid Khaqan Abbasi.

NAIJ.com had reported that President Buhari arrived in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, on Wednesday, October 18.
The president, during his working visit, also paid a visit to the mausoleum of Turkey's founding father Mustafa Kemal Ataturk on Thursday, October 19.

He laid a wreath - of red and white colours representing the Turkey's flag - on the tomb of Ataturk and observed a minute silence in honour of the late Turkish personality.
The president also signed the official memorial book of honuor at the Misaki-i Milli Kulesi (National Pact Tower), within the precincts of the mausoleum, and toured the museum.
