Astana blanketed in snow: when will warmer days return
Tengrinews.kz - Large snowflakes began falling in Astana on the morning of October 6. Earlier, it had been raining in the capital.
The rain turned to snow during the morning hours. Large flakes are falling across the city despite above-zero temperatures: the air temperature is around +3°C, but it feels like -5°C.
What the weather will be like next
According to the latest Kazhydromet forecast, rain and snow are expected in Astana on October 6. Temperatures will range from +1°C to +3°C both at night and during the day. Southwesterly wind gusts may reach 23-28 meters per second at night and in the morning.
Precipitation will stop on October 7, but icy road conditions are forecast. Temperatures will drop to -1°C to -3°C at night and rise to +8°C to +10°C during the day. On October 8, forecasters expect rain again, with daytime temperatures reaching +9°C to +11°C.
Forecasters had also warned of a sharp cold spell and snow in early October in their preliminary 10-day forecast. After the cold period, warmer weather will return to the capital: temperatures may rise to +15°C to +17°C on October 9 and 10.
