Yury Dud arrested in absentia in Moscow - details
Tengrinews.kz — Journalist and blogger Yuri Dud has been arrested in absentia in Moscow, according to the press service of Moscow's courts of general jurisdiction.
The Court's Decision
Moscow's Basmanny District Court ordered the pretrial detention of Yuri Dud in absentia. According to the court's ruling, the arrest period is set for two months.
"On September 29, the court ordered a measure of restraint for Yuri Dud in the form of detention for a period of two months, starting from the moment of his handover to Russian law enforcement agencies in the event of extradition to Russia, or from the moment of his detention on Russian territory," the press service stated.
Consequently, the term will be calculated from the moment Dud is detained within Russia or from the moment he is turned over to Russian authorities if extradited.
According to the press service, Dud is charged under Part 2 of Article 205.2 of the Russian Criminal Code — public calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism, or propaganda of terrorism.
The press service previously noted that Dud had been added to Rosfinmonitoring's list of terrorists and extremists.
Yuri Dud
Journalist and blogger. His YouTube channel has over 10 million subscribers. The Russian Ministry of Justice designated the journalist as a foreign agent in April 2022. Dud attempted to appeal the decision, demanding that the court "recognize as unlawful the Ministry of Justice's failure to notify him of his inclusion in the registry of foreign media performing the functions of a foreign agent." The Supreme Court rejected his appeal.
Yuri Dud has interviewed Kazakh stars on several occasions. In October 2025, Kazakh blogger Alisher Yelikbayev met with Yuri Dud and conducted a blitz interview regarding his past sessions with guests from Kazakhstan.
In 2021, Dud released an extensive interview with members of the group "Irina Kairatovna."
