Large steppe fire near Astana captured on video
Tengrinews.kz — A steppe fire has broken out in the Akmola region. Readers sent footage of the blaze to the Tengrinews.kz editorial office.
Plumes of thick white smoke can be seen rising above the site of the fire.
"The steppe is burning toward the village of Talapker in the Akmola region," a reader wrote to WhatsApp editorial line.
The Akmola Regional Department of Emergency Situations reported that the video shows dry grass on fire. Efforts to extinguish the blaze are already underway.
The editorial office also requested a comment from the Akmola regional administration (akimat). Officials promised to provide information later.

According to the Akmola regional administration, dry brush caught fire near the village of Talapker, covering an area of approximately 15 hectares. Due to southeasterly wind gusts of about 16 kilometers per hour, the fire spread toward the village of Araily.
"As of 17:50, the fire has been contained. Work is currently underway to fully extinguish the blaze. The situation is under control. There is no threat to the residents of Talapker or the Araily rural district," the statement read.
Emergency services from Astana, the Akmola region, and the Tselinograd district have been deployed to combat the fire. A total of 47 personnel and 13 units of equipment from Astana and the Akmola region are involved in the firefighting efforts.
Notably, this is not the first fire in the region today. Earlier, the press service of the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources reported that a forest fire was recorded on September 8 within the Akbulak "Otradnenskoye" forestry unit in the Akmola region.
The firefighting operation involves 10 units of equipment and 25 state forest guard employees, 8 units of equipment and 21 personnel from the Department of Emergency Situations, as well as two Kazavialesookhrana helicopters equipped with water-dropping devices.
